Car history: |
Original big block car with a 1968 L-89 aluminum head, tri power, 435HP 427 motor. Original big block car, however, I have to assume the motor is not the factory engine because the partial vin on the pad is not legible. The sufix on the engine pad is IU. The block casting number is 3916321. The casting number on the heads is 3919842. I believe the 4 speed transmission is original to the car (with partial vin) as is the rear end. The car runs and drives, it needs paint, detail and general (light) restoration. The frame is solid, the body is nice and straight, the only body work needed is the drivers door where the fiberglass has come un-laminated, it still opens and closes fine. The car was originally green but was painted red many years ago. The rims are 8 wide and sounds like the right side wheel rubs when turning a corner, I did not investigate this to be sure that's what is causing the noise. Overall a great candidate for restoration or good driver/street car with new paint and detail. Big Block Corvettes are proven to be one of the best automotive investments ever. This car has brute power and is an animal to drive. cooperates. Also, I have more photos of the engine pad, casting numbers etc. but I cannot add them to the listing. The car has the 4 core radiator, front and read sway bars (front is 15/16), original big block hood and the rear shafts have Caps, not u-bolts, all indications of a real big block car. Color codes from the owner. Assembly date is K24. Motor pad read T1215IU but the VIN on motor not visible. 41,415 miles from the odometer. Could be a 427/390 or 400. $15,900 and running. April 3, 2014. |
